Leatrice Charles

Mrs. Charles, currently teaching Jr. High English Language Arts at SFSCS, was born in Hollywood, CA and grew up in Los Angeles. Her first school was a private Christian school which provided her education foundation as a gifted elementary school student. She later attended the first Magnet school in the Los Angeles School District, Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. After graduating from Gardena High School, she attended California State University, Long Beach, earning a BA in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. She began her career in education at Carson Street Elementary School in the L.A.U.S.D. She completed her elementary teaching courses at California State University Dominguez Hills and taught 2nd and 5th grades at McKinley Ave School in the L.A.U.S.D. She taught 5th grade at Nazarene Christian School in Norwalk until she began her Single Subject Credential and Masters in Education program while substitute teaching in the Buena Park School District. She was on the teaching team at Buena Park Junior High School and then accepted a teaching position at Norwalk Christian Academy, where Christian school education became her calling. She now joins the teaching team in the junior high department at Santa Fe Springs Christian School where she blesses our students and staff on a daily basis.
