Education certainly isn’t a one-size-fits-all, and SFSCS met our expectations!
“We’re very pleased and proud of his progress. I told Joseph when I first met Mrs. Jarvis she was so confident you guys could help, and we were uncertain about the choice to make about holding him back and changing schools. With so much confidence, she told us she knew Joe would be another success story like the others she told us about. I told Joe that at the start of what would have been his 5th-grade year, he was reading at a 1st-grade level. That resonated with him now because his younger sister is in second grade. Then I told him the very next year, in 5th grade, he was standing in front of the entire school reading a Bible verse at chapel. I then told him to think about where he is now in 8th grade as compared to 5th grade. I think that was the first time he understood the extent of his progress. I can’t believe how quickly the time went. It seems like yesterday we were taking that uncertain leap of faith. It was a tougher choice than I expected and one Joseph still feels a little insecure about today. But now, seeing it from today’s perspective, we know it was the right choice. Another thing Mrs. Jarvis said back then was, “Some kids just need the gift of time.” I think that was a big part of it. He just needed the gift of time to come along at his own pace and with the help of different strategies. Education certainly isn’t a one-size-fits-all, and SFSCS met our expectations!”
